Hi, my name is Brian Fling. I wrote this guide for friends visiting Seattle. Seattle has a lot to offer, and this obviously isn't everything. It assumes you are like me and a.) hate dealing with renting cars when you are visiting a city and b.) are too embarrassed to be seen with a guidebook. With that in mind I tried to keep it organized by neighborhoods and/or things you can do in a day.
First, our public transport system isn’t great and doesn’t get you all the way to where you want to go at times (blame all the bodies of water).
Here are some recommended transportation options to get you around Seattle:
There are a couple of areas that I would focus on to get the most out of your time here. I've grouped everything by places that you can easily get to and enjoy once you are there. I avoid recommending places that are not walking distance from other locations, that way you can make the most out of your visit.
This is old Seattle. It is actually a historic district, but it can be a ghost town at times. It can have a bar scene on some nights, filled sports fans on game days.
(I recommend before exploring Pioneer Square, that you go to MOHAI on South Lake Union. It is a newer museum about Seattle that is pretty awesome. You will learn a lot about Pioneer Square there and it will help provide a lot of context.)
